Vocational Nursing Program

Career Care Institute’s accredited Vocational Nursing (VN) program will prepare you for the ever-changing field of healthcare. The program begins in a lecture style classroom where you will learn a variety of nursing principles. You will also visit an array of nursing facilities for hands on clinical training. We believe there are valuable lessons to be learned by combining textbook knowledge with the application of that knowledge in a health care setting while providing safe patient-centered care.

Our Nursing Department and Administration emphasize ethical behavior and the safe delivery of patient care. Our program produces well-rounded, competent graduates ready to take and pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Vocational/Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN®). Licensure is a requirement for employment as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.

Wherever you choose to work, becoming a Licensed Vocational Nurse (VN) gives you the opportunity to help people and continually expand your horizons in the healthcare community.

Career

Licensed Vocational Nurses are a part of the health care team making sure to meet the client’s needs. They provide care for the sick, injured, convalescent, and disabled under the direct supervision of the Health Care Provider, and Registered Nurse (RN).

They administer medications and provide treatment, collect samples for testing, complete documentation, perform therapeutic procedures, and other nursing skills within the job duties of their assigned place of work. LVN’s are responsible for data gathering of patient information and implementation according to the needs of the patient.

They provide patient-centered care based on best practices and stay up to date on care trends. Licensed Vocational Nurses have an obligation to the patients as their advocates and are accountable for ensuring safety, quality, and competency of care within their scope of practice.
