This 8-hour course introduces infection and biohazard control procedures necessary for the safe practice of dentistry.
Topics include microbiology, chemical disinfectants, infectious diseases, OSHA standards, and applicable state laws. Students practice aseptic techniques and Universal Precautions, and they process and sterilize instruments. At the completion of the course, the student will be emailed if they passed or failed the exam. If the student failed, they will be asked to retake the portion of the course they failed at a later date. If they passed, a weeks’ time will be required to fabricate the certificate of completion. The certificate will be either mailed to the student residence or picked up in the Student Services Department, whichever the student has requested. After course completion, it is imperative to never give your original certificate to anyone. Always make a copy for your employer.
